Since moving to Pagosa Springs in 2006, I have been thoroughly disgusted with the lack of love and concern that humans have shown their dogs in this town.  I see dogs in the back of pickups on a daily basis standing on a toolbox while the truck is going 40 mph.

Hello? Don’t you think your dog could fall off and get killed?

I was driving through downtown Pagosa last year on a summer day and two dogs had fallen off the back of a truck into the road and were run over by other vehicles.

What is up with this?

I watched a ‘girl’  (to put  it nicely) that lives in the first house on the left hand side of  Terry Robinson Rd  abuse her dogs over the last few years.  I repeatedly reported her  to Animal Control and supposedly they visited her several times — but she got to keep her two dogs.

I would stop by and give her dog a blanket and water while he stayed chained to a pole and was wrapped around it so tight everyday he could not breathe.

All she did was cuss at me and send a hand signal showing how immature and full of hate she must be for the world.  I drive by one morning last summer and the poor dog was gone so who knows what happen to that sweet little pup.

Now she still has one dog remaining that is fun, sweet and older  but she lets him out on the road and pays no attention to him. This past Sunday morning he was hit by a car  in front of her driveway and she had to hear it only 30 ft away from the house.

We must have driven up right after it happened; I was devastated.  I went up to her front door to let her know her dog had been killed and she said okay and remained on the phone.  We waited until she came out a few minutes later and said I knew this would happen someday

What?  My husband and neighbor that stopped carried her dog up to the house for her so she could bury it or have it cremated this time of year,

Now get this.  A couple of days later I see  remnants of an animal on her property being picked away by the birds  – IT IS HER DOG! How cruel can a person be?  She has no right to an animal and I hope the Humane Society or anyone else in this town will make sure she does not get a pet.

I hope this is illegal and that she can be fined.
